What's Next?

Congratulations!
We are officially at the end of our course and I just want to say how grateful I am for you. We may be at the end of the program but we will still be continuing on this journey together.

I want to remind you that the obstacles you will face are inevitable, but the obstacles are the path.  As you look at your obstacles, I want you to integrate them, not in a negative way but as an invitation to look deeper at yourself and your overall health. They are messages that need to be decoded for you to be in the body that you want, to feel balanced and for feeling
self-actualized.

If you look at obstacles from this vantage point, what happens, what shifts for you?? I want you to sit with that as you sift through the obstacles that you think are keeping you from your ideal hormonal health or life goals, even as we complete this course.  I think this final session will help you begin to look at your story with a different perspective.

I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a rut with your body, your health and your menstrual cycle. It’s frustrating and usually ends up being just plain exhausting. That’s why I spent years figuring out the best solutions for women. This is how the Fertile Ground Holistic Fertility Program was born.

When it comes to implementation of these practices and solutions over the long term, I prefer to take a flexible approach, because, well...life happens. Here are my suggestions for implementation:

1.    Remember first and foremost that there is no such thing as perfect health or a perfect period. Continually striving for that will just use up your precious bandwidth and keep you unchanged and in a place of burnout. You’ll end up so defeated that you self-sabotage. Completely opposite of what your goals are. Instead, aim for imperfect. Your food, self-care and exercise aren’t going to be stellar all the time and that is A-OK. You’re a grown-up and there are no good or bad decisions about any of these, but there are consequences, and you are very aware of them after doing this program.
2.    Take an honest, unflinching inventory of where you’re at now that we’re at the end of the program. What has changed since we began 16 weeks ago? List everything off - examples include, how is your energy, do you have afternoon slumps, how do you feel when you wake up, and when you go to bed? Changes with your menstrual cycle? What about your mood? Is there still anything with your health or life asking for your attention? How are your relationships? Energizing or depleting? Circle the top three issues that are still nagging and focus on those over the next 8-12 weeks.
3.    Continue to re-evaluate on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. I like the idea of creating an accountability journal and checking in with yourself at set times of the day, week or month.

Your goal is to continue to cultivate the new habits that will support your Fertile Ground mission and ultimately your mission on this planet! We can’t achieve our goals without a clear idea of how to go about making them a reality. Once that is in place, it’s just a matter of making daily commitments to realize these goals.

5 STEPS FOR CREATING LONG-LASTING CHANGE:

1.    Go back to the “Re-imagining Your Best Health” handout and re-read everything you wrote down in your journal. We began the program with creating a vision for your best health & life and it’s time to take it to the next level! Think about what has changed in the last 16 weeks and what you would like to continue changing. Remember, you are the designer/queen/leader of your life!
2.    Form Core Principle Habits. These are the habits that have positive snowball effects throughout all areas of your life. For instance, daily exercise gives you more energy, which leads to less cravings for sugar and caffeine, which then leads to a seriously improved quality of life. Start by defining what your core principle habits are, then come back to those habits whenever the need arises. E.g. When you feel like you’ve fallen off the wagon.
3.    Start with short-term changes. People don’t generally like long-term commitments. Instead, make 1-month commitments to yourself and renew those commitments at the end of each month. Start now and move forward one step at a time. Long-term habits are formed by performing an action repeatedly. Just commit to doing something every day for a month and at the end of each month take inventory.
4.  Successful change comes in stages. You can’t program yourself to create change and you certainly can’t do it all at once! The business of hormones can be daunting so I recommend  breaking your imbalances down into smaller chunks. For instance, if your biggest problem is high cortisol, follow the guidelines on the Adrenal Health Protocol. If your high cortisol is coupled with symptoms of low progesterone, get into the Low Progesterone Protocol next.
5.    Celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Women are way too hard on themselves. Period. It’s time to turn that around and give yourself kudos for all the amazing things you do every single day. I bet there are a lot of them, even if you don’t think there are. Find a girlfriend who will be your biggest advocate and agree to share 3 or more brags a week with each other. This is such a simple yet powerful practice!

THE FLYING TRAPEZE EXERCISE
Sometimes, I feel that my life is a series of trapeze swings. I’m either hanging on to a trapeze bar swinging along or, for a few moments, I’m hurdling across space between the trapeze bars. Mostly, I spend my time hanging on for dear life to the trapeze bar of the moment. It carries me along a certain steady rate of swing and I have the feeling that I’m in control. I know most of the right questions, and even some of the right answers. But once in a while, as I’m merrily, or not so merrily, swinging along, I look ahead of me into the distance, and what do I see?  I see another trapeze bar looking at me. It’s empty. And I know, in that place in me that knows, that this new bar has my name on it. It is my next step, my growth, my aliveness coming to get me. In my heart of hearts I know that for me to grow, I must release my grip on the present well-known bar to move to the new one.

Each time it happens, I hope—no, I pray—that I won’t have to grab the new one. But in my knowing place, I know that I must totally release my grasp on my old bar, and for some moments in time I must hurtle across space before I can grab the new bar. Each time I do this I am filled with terror. It doesn’t matter that in all my previous hurdles I have always made it.  Each time I am afraid I will miss, that I will be crushed on unseen rocks in the bottomless basin between the bars.

But I do it anyway. I must.

Perhaps this is the essence of what the mystics call faith. No guarantees, no net, no insurance, but we do it anyway because hanging on to that old bar is no longer an option. And so, for what seems to be an eternity but actually lasts a microsecond. I soar across the dark void called “the past is over, the future is not yet here.” It’s called a transition. I have come to believe that it is the only place that real change occurs.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the transition zone is the only real thing, and the bars are the illusions we dream up to not notice the void. Yes, with all the fear that can accompany transitions, they are still the most vibrant, growth-filled, passionate moments in our lives. And so transformation of fear may have nothing to do with making fear go away, but rather with giving ourselves permission to “hang out” in the transition zone -- between the trapeze bars—allowing ourselves to dwell in the only place where change really happens.  It can be terrifying. It can also be enlightening. Hurdling through the void, we just may learn to fly.

1.    What trapeze bar are you currently holding onto? Is it a relationship, a job, an old story that keeps playing in your head, or something else?
2.    What is stopping you from letting go of that particular trapeze bar? Fear of the unknown, money, etc?
3.    Would you let go if you knew what the outcome would be?
4.    What are three steps that you can take in the next TWO weeks to let go of that bar?
5.    What would you like the outcome to be?

I want to thank you for your engagement and commitment to the hormone repair process. Just like you can obtain rehabilitation of a body part when you have an injury, I fully believe that you can rehab your stress response, your adrenal function and the function of your important sex hormones.

This kind of rehab is not for wusses, that’s for sure, but I so appreciate that you’ve been on this journey of hormonal rehab with me. It’s not all peaches and cream and easy peasy, right? No, it’s the path of the warrior princess.

This has been an action packed 16 weeks and I have taught you a lot.  But that’s the point, I want to rattle your cage and to get in your face, even with this online program where I’m not literally in your face, so that you can see there is a better way.  I don’t want you to stay on the same old path, expecting a different outcome. I want you to reach for something bigger, more intentional, more aligned with who you are at your deepest level.

I encourage you to look back and acknowledge and celebrate all that you have accomplished. No matter where you are you have done well for you. We both know it all adds up.  Changes might include, cooking more, eating more veggies especially greens, eating foods that feel really good in your body, having more energy, clarity and vitality, weight loss or gain depending on what your goal was, your period may have come back or become more regular, acne may have improved or disappeared, your hormone levels may have improved. Your hair, skin, and nails also might have gotten better. Other changes may be more mental and emotional - you might have created a spiritual practice, considered changing your career or maybe you’ve already jumped ship, your physical activity has likely increased, your relationships have radically improved and the amount of pleasure and happiness in your life has increased.

Make sure to think about the change in relationship with your body as well. Listening to her, trusting her, loving her more, cleansing her of negative thoughts and truly honoring your needs.

Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing to trust me with your health and participating in this program. I would not be able to do this work without fierce women like you who are willing to take a chance on their health. Essential Oil Hormone Balancing Protocols
For Balancing Hormones:
Put 2 - 3 drops of Frankincense oil under the tongue morning and night.
Use Geranium oil topically over the kidneys daily.
Use 2 drops of Balance oil blend on each foot morning and night.

To Increase Progesterone Levels:
